About
Unison Energy is in the CHP (combined heat and power, or cogeneration) business; CHP is a form of on-site electricity production - think solar/wind, but with engines - and can provide cheaper, greener, and more efficient and reliable power. The gas engine generates the electricity, and the waste heat is used for thermal loads
Our business model: Unison Energy installs CHP solutions in standard enclosed units on-site and which typically cover 90-100% of a facility's electrical load. CHP is an established technology that we have incorporated into a "plug and play," PPA (power purchase agreement)-based business model. This allows us to own and operate the CHP equipment and bill only for energy usage, so there is no upfront cost to our client. This also takes the client's usual payback/ROI analysis out of the equation (technically ROI will be infinite) and allows them to focus on their core business. These systems' benefits - for the right facility - include:
- 10-15% savings on energy spend (depends on location/region)
- greater energy reliability, with a gas engine, a diesel backup, and continued connection to the grid
- carbon footprint reduction
