Since 1923, Sellstrom Manufacturing Company has been a leading manufacturer of personal safety products. Established as Excell Sales Company on North Clark Street in Chicago, the principal product manufactured was a green “eyeshade” that reduced glare both indoors and outdoors and were purchased by barbers, office workers and picnickers.

Over the years, other products followed and the company began to manufacture a full line of sunglasses, motorcycle goggles and lenses for taillights, flashlights and more. With the start of World War II, Sellstrom’s total product line went toward the war effort which included: welding helmets, face shields, welding goggles and more, which influenced the safety products manufactured today. In 1996, Sellstrom completed the acquisition of RTC – a fall protection company located in Wilmington, Delaware. The newly acquired operation, Sellstrom/RTC and Sellstrom/RTC Custom Solutions, was moved to the current address in Palatine and still provides high quality, turnkey custom solutions for customers.

With this growth comes a new location effective June 1, 2012 (2050 Hammond Drive Schaumburg, IL 60173). The new facility will provide more efficient workspace and larger room to manufacture the products that have made us renowned.
